Vacation - Part 4

We have been very intentional about soaking up these last two days of vacation together.  I am trying to slow down and savor the moments with my kids more and more, the feel of their hands in mine as we walk, scratching backs, being silly, playing peek-a-boo, kissing heads, and asking questions.  Yesterday we took a family hike.  It was a really neat trail, with creeks that allowed us to walk through, rocks to climb on, and a waterfall at the end!  We loved it, although it was far from perfect.  Sammy and Ella were fussy a majority of the way up the trail and needed carrying the whole way down (which meant that Zach had Sophia on his chest and Sammy on his back...).  I tried to enjoy my snuggle time with Ella as I hiked through the forest since she wouldn't walk on her own (surprising for little Miss Independent).  It was definitely exhilarating to finish the hike, and Micah was SO in his zone of being our little adventure-seeker.

After our hike, we went to a park to have a picnic lunch and let the kids play a bit.  They all enjoyed the rock wall (which Ella scaled effortlessly in a matter of seconds...that monkey-girl!).  And then all four kids were so tuckered out that they made a plan for everyone to pile on the double stroller for the walk to the car.  So funny!

Today all three boys in the family had fevers...major bummer...but we enjoyed our time laying low creating puzzles, playing play-do, making cookies, playing games, and watching a movie.  We did leave the house at the end of the day to make one last stop at the Lego-building store and to see the fountain shows once again (and, yes, we saw not one more, but FOUR more!  Ha!).  We still enjoyed the day even though it was so sad to have sick boys today!
